The 3rd Agrinio Jazz Festival will take place on September 6 & 7, 2013 at the Garden Theater, Agrinio .with artists from Greece and abroad for a special jazz celebration.Jazz standards, original compositions, improvisations and imaginative adaptations, film screenings, exhibitions, masterclasses and parallel events, will compose the musical weekend.
Since that first edition of the festival few things have changed, but not the festival’s spirit and identity that, together with its top-quality programs and its warm and friendly atmosphere, have been at the heart of its success. For the fifth edition of this festival, George Kontrafouris, the artistic director of the festival, presented a program with a repertoire ranging from traditional jazz standards to more contemporary and modern jazz. Highlight of this edition, Manfred Schoof founder of European free jazz.
One painting group exhibition and seven music concerts are combined harmoniously again this year in the eight events included in the program of Megaro Gyzi Festival 2013, for the 7th year under the artistic direction of Yannis Papaconstantinou. The festival will be held in the 17th-century old family mansion Megaro Gyzi (near the cable-car entrance in Fira, Santorini), from August 1st until 23rd, with free admission to all events. This celebration of culture in August has been established as an institution in the cultural events of summer in Santorini, attracting the special interest of tourists and residents of the island.
