7 July - 18 August - The one and only Sani Festival will take place just as it always has: with musical surprises that one could only hope to enjoy on major international music stages. Don’t miss them!

For 26 years now, Sani Festival’s main aspiration is to open up bridges of communication between tourism and the arts, between Greek and foreign tourists. There is one language we all share, that of the arts and of innovation, placing before the public important artists and performers who are either visiting Greece for the first time or offering us an exclusive opportunity to enjoy their latest creation. Our duty -in respect to the audience- is to defend high standards of quality in the arts and entertainment, to advance the cause of culture and communication between natives and foreign visitors. As part of the above and despite the fact that Sani Festival’s identity is an international music festival, we took a step further and broadened its perspectives into other forms of performing arts, like modern dance, music theatre.

In the Jazz on the Hill section, on Saturday 7 July, Sani Festival has the honour of hosting German trumpeter, singer and composer Till Brönner, a contemporary jazz star with many distinctions, in his first ever appearance in Greece.

The same section is preparing for yet another “first” on Friday 13 July, with the appearance of great American jazz singer Cecile McLorin Salvant, who holds the first place prize at Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, as well as two Grammys Awards.

This year’s Sounds of the World cycle on Sani Hill opens on Sunday 22 July, with the appearance of Angelique Kidjo from Benin, West Africa, a soulful singer with a variety of musical influences, a Grammy Award winner, and a highly aware activist. This contemporary African diva has been characterised by distinguished international publications as a stand-out figure in her art form. This is her second visit to Greece, following her appearance in Athens in 2011, and she will present a show full of power, energy, colour and rhythm.

Greek Variations will open with Katerina Polemi. At the Sani Festival she will perform a repertoire from her own compositions as well as very known and beloved brazilian music.

Classical Waves will open on Saturday 18 August with the Thessaloniki State Orchestra, directed by internationally renowned maestro Alexandros Myrat, presenting the ‘Cinema Symphony’ programme, a musical anthology containing pieces by great composers such as: Ennio Morricone, Dino Rota, Jean Michel Jarre, Elmer Bernstein, Alexandre Desplat, from films such as ‘Gone with the Wind’, ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Schindler’s List’, ‘The Terminal’, ‘The Mission’, ‘The Magnificent Seven’, ‘Jurassic Park’ and others.
