Acclaimed vocalist Gretchen Parlato follows her 2009 sophomore breakthrough recording with Lost and Found, a thoroughly modern offering which features such contemporary jazz stars as pianist Taylor Eigsti, bassist Derrick Hodge, drummer Kendrick Scott, guitarist/vocalist Alan Hampton & tenor saxophonist Dayna Stephens.


After last year's success, the festival comes back this year for two nights full of Gypsy jazz sounds. May 20 & 21, at Kyttaro live, Athens.


A new generation of jazz musicians, unimpeded by the idiomatic constraints of tradition, has come of age since the end of the '80s-era culture wars. Tonight at Noon, formed in 2008, is a Finnish jazz group that consists of young top of the line musicians.

The first animated cartoon to be filmed and released in widescreen CinemaScope, Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom won the 1954 Academy Award for Best Short Subject (Cartoons). In 1994, it was voted #29 of the 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field.

Main character is DJ, record collector, amateur trombonist and adventurer. Unfortunately only one or two Ornette Birks Makkonen comics are out in English. One of them is Ornette Birks Makkonen Makes Jazz Happen.
