October 7 - Afrodyssey Orchestra
Afrodyssey Orchestra are the new and unique sound of dance music in Athens Greece. Their name reflects their musical style and genre as it alludes to Africa and the Odyssey as a voyage - adventure.
The band has been influenced by traditional west african dance music and percussion, Jazz, Funk, Psychedelic, as well as Greek music culture.
Musicians, each from different background and musical influences, brought together by a series of events, they now share the same aesthetic style, vibrancy, enthusiasm and musical creativity captivating even the most hard-to-please audiences!
Most of Afrodyssey Orchestra’s music is composed by the band itself and include instruments which are unknown to the wide public, such as the Kamelen Ngoni, which is a type of African harp, and the Balafon, which is an ancestor of the Marimba and Vibraphone. They also play some innovative versions of well-known songs of Afro music and Greek traditional music.
