Paros Jazz Foundation and Festival and ACE -Arts Culture Europe are presenting the 2nd edition of the Jazz Festival to be held in the wonderful setting of the Island of Paros, Greece, from July 5 to July 12, 2012. The organization of the event is a collaboration between Athena Perantinou / Paros Jazz Foundation & Festival and Marc Buronfosse, musician / teacher at the Paris National Conservatory of Region - artistic director of the Paros Jazz Academy & Festival and ACE (Arts Culture Europe), a non profit organization for the promotion of music and arts in Europe.
The Paros Jazz Academy consists of a team of experienced teachers and artists all with international backgrounds that will be sharing their knowledge and passion for music with students from around the world.
The duration of the academy is five intensive days of jazz lessons and is catering for the needs of musicians and singers with some experience in the genre, who would like to deepen their knowledge and understanding of Jazz, as well as improve their technical aptitude and skills under the guidance of professional musicians and experienced teachers.
Daily lessons will include seminars on the use of musical instruments (electric and acoustic bass, saxophone, piano, electric and acoustic guitar, harp and drums), vocal lessons, group sessions and improvisation sessions.
The Academy provides a holistic approach to music, therefore every morning in open air, an hour is dedicated to Qi Gong , a warm up in the style of the Shaolin monks from South China, to strengthen the muscles of the body with relaxation of the ligaments which is also associated to working on concentration.
This summer the Paros Jazz Academy is glad to announce that this summer the Academy will be featuring 3 new courses:
A - Acoustic & Electric Guitar class by Vasilis Rakopoulos
B - Harp class by Isabelle Olivier
C - Jazz Initiation workshop by Eric Breton
A Jazz workshop for musicians who want to approach improvisation and learn how to practice and develop it in Jazz, focusing on the different aspects of this music: phrasing, rythm, sound, harmony, melody and creativity.
All students have the opportunity also to practice in Jam sessions, organized in the evenings at the Albatross Hotel.
Everyone who is interested can apply directly through the website www.parosjazzacademy.com, by sending the online application form.
