The Third Zante Jazz Festival will take place on the island of Zakynthos, from Friday 15 to Sunday, July 17, 2011.

The Zante Jazz Festival 2011 is a musical meeting of jazz and improvised music.

The festival will be hosted at the outdoor theater Dermatousa, at Tragaki village, The public will have the opportunity to attend two special concerts a day, at a total program duration of two hours each day.



Friday, 15/7/2011 - Petros Klampanis Contextual

Petros Klampanis draws a sonic portrait of the double bass in this project “Contextual” (cd released on April 2011). Much like an impressionist painter alters his color palette depending on how light falls upon his subject, bassist and composer Petros Klampanis alters the musical context in every track of his album in order to point out different characteristics of the double bass. From 2008, he lives in New York. He has a Master of Performance from the University of New York (CUNY, Aaron Copland School of Music). He has collaborated with many important representatives of NY jazz scene (Paul Bollenback, Gilad Hekselman, David Berkman, Gretchen Parlato, Ron Affif, Yotam Silberstein, Antonio Hart, Christos Rafalides, Vodek Janke, etc.) is a collaborate with the Ionian University of Corfu.




Friday, 15/7/2011 - Human Touch

David Lynch (saxophones & flute), Stavros Lantsias (piano & keyboards) and Yiotis Kiourtsoglou (electric bass), having acquired their own unique identity in music as soloists, move in a wide range of rhythms, colours and emotional depth. Their direct and communicative music drifts the listener filling him with images and emotions. Human Touch is an innovative instrumental trio based in Athens, Greece. Their sound carries the nuances of their Greek, Irish-American and Cypriot backgrounds and is a personal hybrid of universal soul. They have played in several international jazz and ethnic festivals in Europe and have influenced whole generations of instrumentalists in Greece.

Tilemarchos Mousas and Moussas Farm presents new compositions from their upcoming album "Newborn". The musicians of the farm use a wide variety of rhythmic paterns and original melodies to introduce in jazz elements of modern electronic and rock music in an unexpected, sometimes lyrical, sometimes rhythmic, but always charming way.




Sunday 17/7/2011 - Spiros Manessis “ the music of Lena Platonos

A project based on compositions of Greek composer Lena Platonos which Spyros Manessis arranged for solo piano. He has focused mainly on her early period, getting inspiration and material from albums like “Karyotakis 13 Songs” and “Sabotage” and he has explored a variety of sound and dynamic qualities of the piano.





Sunday 17/7/2011 - Dimos Dimitriadis — Ionian University Jazz Ensemble

The Ionian Jazz Ensemble presents original jazz compositions of the students as well as standards and contemporary works in jazz. With the participation of the bandleader and lecturer at the Ionian University: Dimos Dimitriadis.
