Since it was created in 2006, the festival has enjoyed the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, whom we should like to thank for the kind attention he has always given to it.
The Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2015 will be held this year between November 23rd and December 6th and will introduce us to, and perhaps reacquaint us with, the brightest stars in the jazz firmament and today’s fresh talents in this wonderful setting, a temple of music and art for more than a hundred years.
Faithful to itself, the festival reflects jazz music as it is today: open to all musical trends, always leaving room for tradition, but never static, taking inspiration from the music of the entire world and giving particular attention to artistic creation.
Throughout this 10th edition, we will encounter the greatest musicians of our time, the most beautiful voices in contemporary jazz and the great soloists. The programme for 2015 is the symbol of what jazz represents: life, joy, celebration.
From 23rd to 28th of November, for the opening week of the 10th edition, we will welcome to the stage of the Opera Garnier Monte-Carlo fresh young talents like Richard Manetti, Thomas Enhco, GoGo Penguin and Cory Henry, who represent the new generation of jazzmen. Alongside them each evening, we will reacquaint ourselves with confirmed stars like Joshua Redman and Selah Sue.
We will also give considerable space to artistic creation, since Avishai Cohen will be performing for the first time with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in an exceptional concert.
We will end the week with Marcus Miller who will be showcasing his new album «Afrodeezia», with a band put together especially for the festival, which will include a number of African and Gnawa musicians.
The second week of the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival, from December 3rd to December 6th, will be devoted to the voices of jazz. Melody Gardot, Barbara Hendricks, Paolo Conte and Gregory Porter will be headlining and some of us will get our first chance to see Mario Biondi, Hugh Coltman and Daby Touré, in addition to Kyle Eastwood.
So make a note in your diary for this 10th edition, which we hope will be one of the very best and most modern, to make each of these evenings a resounding success and pay glorious homage to jazz.
Vive le jazz!
