With an international line-up of top artists, and an exciting mix of home-grown talent, Joy of Jazz has contributed to the cultural exchange between artists and many international performers have met their local counterparts and subsequently collaborated on various projects. Joy of Jazz is South Africa's oldest jazz festival. the 2015 edition will be held on September 24, 25 & 26.

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival, started from humble beginnings in Pretoria has grown from strength to strength. Over the past 16 years, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival has attracted over 50 local and international artists that delight fans over a three day period. The audience of more than 24 000 strong have been captivated across 7 venues in Johannesburg’s Newtown Cultural precinct until the numbers could not be sustained. This resulted in an inevitable change of venue- the Sandton Convention Centre.

The Standard Bank Joy of Jazz not only showcases established artists, but makes a conscious effort to grow the number of developing jazz artists by providing a platform for up-and-comers to receive exposure. The mix of local and international artists has created a cultural exchange between artists that have led to more collaboration off the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz stage which has contributed to the jazz community in fantastic ways.

Although the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival has moved to the Sandton Convention Centre, the festival has contributed greatly to the landscape of the Newtown Precinct and has shown significant benefits in helping to shape the inner city’s changing cultural and creative landscape. After 16 years of bringing jazz to the people we hope you will join us in saying ‘Standing ovations, hand-claps, whistles and screams!

Jazz is is about love, peace and good sounds.
