Vassiliki Bloukou presents the world of jazz, born at the beginning of the 20th century in the USA, at a time of intense economic and social turmoil. With New Orleans as the birthplace of this unique culture and underground, dark, wooden bars as points of reference, the exhibition transports visitors back in time, ton an era where Afro-American immigrants, expressed themselves through music as a sign of freedom. Bloukou’s works capture the feeling of loss and escape but also the continuity and perpetuation of this culture over time.
