Kenny Barron - Dave Holland
A master of duo encounters, Holland joins forces with piano great Kenny Barron, an improviser of the highest order, for a series of expansive instrumental pas de deux.

This isn't one of those painfully introspective piano/bass duo albums that'll lull you to sleep, but a series of spirited dialogues between master musicians thoroughly familiar with each other's moves. The art of conversation is a lively one, and Barron and Holland are the kind of restlessly inquisitive players who can still find something interesting to say even in such warhorses as "Daydream" and "In Walked Bud."

Apart from those tunes and an unlikely but swinging arrangement of the Charlie Parker line, "Segment," the set list consists of Holland and Barron originals, each man bringing decades of writing to the session.
