Yannis Papadopoulos was born in Athens, Greece. At the age of 9 he had music theory and keyboard lessons with Yiorgos Theocharopoulos. Yannis later studied electric bass with Yiorgos Fakanas for two years and participated in Vassilis Rakopoulos’ jazz group seminar for one year. Yannis switched to the upright bass in 2010 and received valuable guidance by Yiorgos Georgiadis. His first upright bass recording can be found in the “Jazz on T.A.P” album (2012) to which he also contributed four of his original compositions. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics (1997, University of Crete, Greece) and a MSc in Information Systems Engineering (1998, University of Reading, UK). Since 2000 he has worked as an IT project manager in Greece, the UK and the USA.
