The man who defined American jazz for more than 60 years with his trademark humour, virtuosity and sheer brilliance. His innovations as a trumpeter, singer and good-will ambassador have never been equaled. Just to name a few accomplishments, his trumpet playing helped change jazz from an ensemble-oriented music to one that features soloists, Satchmo's vocal phrasing and scatting not only influenced jazz singers but permanently changed pop music and his sunny and humorous personality won millions of friends to jazz.

It’s Louis Armstrong
This 10-CD set has many of the highlights of Armstrong's career. Beginning in late 1925, the reissue includes some of the great classics of the Louis Armstrong Hot Five and Seven dates (1925-28), many of his big band performances of 1929-33 during which he helped to introduce and/or popularize dozens of standards, a bunch of his Swing Era recordings, his small group dates of 1946-47 including selections co-starring Jack Teagarden and a few orchestral performances from the early 1950s.
