Born to be Blue reimagines Baker’s life as a mixture of fact and fiction, picking up his story late in his career when, after years of heroin abuse, financial loss, and public disgrace, he attempts to stage a comeback in the late 60’s.

Directed, produced and written by Robert Budreau. The film stars Ethan Hawke and Carmen Ejogo. It was shown in the Special Presentations section of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
Born to Be Blue received positive reviews from film critics, with Hawke’s performance receiving praise
