Wade Mikkola - Impromptu Session

Jussi Kannaste (tenor saxophone); George Kontrafouris (Hammond b-3 organ); Joe Farnsworth (drums).

A big fan of the organ quartet sessions of the 60s, Mikkola made the combination of gut-stringed bass and the organ the incentive for this
session chilled out, yet dynamic and accessible.
Sax soloist Jussi Kannaste is one of the leading young players in Finland today, and has shown his breadth of stylistic knowledge in many occasions.
Chicken Coup Records has already demonstrated the skills of Greek organist Giorgos Kontrafouris. His Little Daddy s Blues was released on the label in 2007, and has received great reviews. Wade and George have collaborated on many projects during his lengthy stay in Finland.
The material here consists of Wade s original compositions and inventive arrangements of old chestnuts.
