The winners of the 18th annual Jazz Journalists Association Jazz Awards for Music and Recording are


The NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship is the highest honor that America bestows on jazz artists. Each year since 1982, the program has elevated to its ranks a select number of living legends who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of jazz.

The 2013 Kyoto Prize for music goes to seminal pianist Cecil Taylor. The award to Cecil Taylor reads: “An Innovative Jazz Musician Who Has Fully Explored the Possibilities of Piano Improvisation”


The finals of the Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition -Nov 11 at New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) with special guest judges Al Jarreau, Janis Siegel, Gretchen Parlato, WBGO Jazz 88.3’s WBGO Gary Walker and Larry Rosen. Following an extensive international talent search, NJPAC will host performances by the five finalists in this season’s second annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and Sassy Award.

“The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! – Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” is set to take place at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles and will air live on the CBS Television Network on Friday, Dec. 6 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, setting the stage for the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The one-hour special will officially kick off GRAMMY season by revealing nominations in several categories while featuring performances by past GRAMMY winners and/or nominees.

Trophy Newcomer of the Year was awarded to young pianist Thomas Enhco summer.
