Worldwide Jazz Talent on Display as the “Made in NY Jazz Competition” Attracts Artists From Around the Globe – Musicians Are Invited to Submit Videos to the Panel of Legends: Lenny White, Joe Lovano and Randy Brecker by October 28, 2014

The competition discovers amazing jazz artists talents around the globe. The purpose of the Made in New York Jazz Competition is to find young talent hidden among the world’s jazz musicians and to expose them to a worldwide jazz-loving audience. Multi Grammy Award winners Lenny White, Joe Lovano and Randy Brecker join in the judges panel of the 2nd annual Made In New York Jazz Competition. The entries range in style from bebop to ethnic sounds showcasing impressive musicianship.

Contestants enter the Made in New York Jazz Competition in different categories by submitting a video of a performance that is no more than five minutes long. At least 80 percent of the video must be of the artist performing, and videos must be submitted in high quality.

For the best talent in this pool, Kawai America will cover the airfare to travel New York to Made In New York Jazz Gala, where the top young artists will have the opportunity to perform on stage with notable jazz musicians. Kawai —the future of the piano®— will also be presenting the 2nd prize winner with a KAWAI MP 11, the finest piano experience in a professional stage piano.

This significant corporate partnership between the Made in New York Jazz Competition and KAWAI Musical Instruments USA will help promote and nurture the next generation of global jazz musicians” said Made in NY Jazz Competition founder Mikhael Brovkin.

After witnessing the success of the competition in its first year, Forte Piano Music Company decided to get involved with the Made in New York Jazz Competition. Displaying a commitment to future generations of musicians, Forte Piano covers the entrance fees to the competition for 10 aspiring jazz artists.

The 2014 Made In New York Jazz Competition is open to entrants worldwide. Soloist and groups can sign up and post their performances on the Competition’s innovative and fun website madeinnyjazz.com by October 28. Registrants vote for their favorite performances. Finalists are selected by the Competition’s Committee Members , which is comprised of highly regarded jazz musicians. The judges, multiple Grammy Award winners Lenny White, Joe Lovano, and Randy Brecker select the winner. The results will be announced by the end of 2014.

In its first year, the Made in New York Jazz brought musicians throughout the world together through the unique online competition. Last year was very successful for the competition. The contest tallied over 1.5 million video loads. The explosion of interest in the innovative jazz competition has turned madeinnyjazz.com into a jazz hub for communities of interest from fans to record producers. As previously mentioned, Kawai USA was also a sponsor of the contest last year, and winners took home valuable prizes like the ES7 Digital Piano and an MP6 Professional Stage Piano, provided by the instrument manufacturer. The 2013 Made in New York Jazz Competition was capped off with a performance to a packed house at the Tribeca Performing Arts Complex in downtown Manhattan. On May 2014, the Jazz Gala in New York concert sold full house, about 1,000 jazz fans in attendance in famous Tribeca Performing Art Center.
