Athina Live offer us once again the best in the Jazz-Fusion today. “one of the best electric guitarist of his generation “ International Herald Tribune. Mike Stern (guitar) and Yorgos Fakanas Group .

In a career that spans three decades and a discography that includes more than a dozen eclectic and innovative recordings, six-time GRAMMY nominee Mike Stern has established himself as one of the premier jazz and jazz-fusion guitarists and composers of his generation.
After playing in early years with drummer Billy Cobham and then broke through with trumpeter Miles Davis’ comeback band from 1981 to 1983, and again in 1985, he started a solo career,.
He was hailed as the Best Jazz Guitarist of 1993 by Guitar Player magazine, and in 2009 was listed on Down Beat’s list of 75 best jazz guitar players.
He has played with prestigious musicians such as Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis, David Sanborn, Mark Egan, Dave Weckl,Marcus Miller, Anthony Jackson, Richard Bona, Victor Wooten, Bob Franceschini, Al Foster, Bill Evans, Mino Cinelu, Mitch Forman, Steve Jordan, J. Patitucci, Jack De Johnette, Don Alias, Bill Frisell και John Scofield …. His last release in 2009, Big Neighborhood was also nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.

“Mr. Stern, 60, has built his aesthetic around that pressurized feeling. Early in his career, working on both sides of the jazz-rock fault line — with Blood, Sweat & Tears, the drummer Billy Cobham and most visibly, the hard-nosed early-’80s Miles Davis band — he struck a balance of fire and logic, with a touch of visionary excess. He’s now much closer to the ground: a guitarist’s guitarist, an eager collaborator, a fixture at the 55 Bar in Greenwich Village. The humblebrag title of his 2012 album, “All Over the Place” (Heads Up International), suggests both a stylistic compass and a way of being.” The New York Times dec. 2013

“Stern’s career encompasses a sequence of musical partnerships reaching from Blood Sweet & Tears and Jaco Pastorius to Miles Davis, the Brecker Brothers and his own dynamic groups “
