ACI Aegean Cultural Initiative – Paros Bass Camp : 28 July – 3 August 2014 with Anthony Jackson/ Yiorgos Fakanas

Continuing their creative working association, ACI, along with Anthony Jackson (world renowned bassist and inventor of the 6-string contra-bass guitar) and Yiorgos Fakanas (esteemed bassist-composer-music educator), have scheduled a week-long series of classes for electric bass players.
The courses will focus on the elements of melody, rhythm, and harmony that are useful and necessary to all musicians of today, building confidence in improvisation and accompaniment in a variety of styles and playing situations.

Participants will acquire resources for continued practice, aiding in the assimilation of the aforementioned.
The unique experience of daily contact with the great Anthony Jackson will also afford local students a deeper understanding of the ways and methods of professional musicians on the international music scene.

TOTAL PARTICIPATION FEE IS : 400 € AND INCLUDES :
5 TEACHING HOURS PER DAY FOR 6 DAYS + 1 FINAL CONCERT + ACCOMMODATION FOR 6 NIGHTS + BREAKFAST + 1 MEAL.

The hosting will be at “Porto Paros Hotel” in Kolimbithres ( http://www.karmaportoparos.com/375/en/Photo-Gallery/ ) and includes accommodation in double rooms, full breakfast and one meal per day. (The total cost of the seminar and hosting is extremely low due to the sponsorship attitude of the tutors, and Porto Paros Hotel)

Grammy-nominated American electric bass guitar player ,Anthony Jackson has been a distinctive voice on the electric bass since entering the scene in New York City. He began playing the piano as a teen before switching to the guitar, and finally picking up the bass after being influenced by legendary Motown bassist James Jamerson.
He has performed live in more than 30 countries, and has recorded in more than 3000 sessions on more than 500 albums.
He’s also credited as the inventor of the first six-string electric bass, which he dubbed the contrabass guitar . In addition to his main instruments, he also plays organ.
