The renowned venue, opened in the late 70’s at a little basement on Michalakopoulou Str. in Athens. After having drifted to three different parts of town, on October 95’ the venue finally found its permanent location on Trivonianou Str. in the city center.
Its intimate and musician friendly stage housed some of the finest and most notable artists in jazz and blues history such as Steve Lacy, Monty Alexander, Dexter Gordon, Lou Donaldson, Archie Shepp, Chico Hamilton, Benny Golson, Magic Slim, Carey & Lurrie Bell, Heath Brothers, Mal Waldron, Cedar Walton, Tony Allen, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Cobb, Linda Hopkins, Carmen Lundy, Freddy Cole, Maria Joao, Rashied Ali to name a few from hundreds of others.
With the season running from October to roughly May, the Half Note presents well over 220 concerts a year and in the present location a number of shows very close to 5.000 to date, with the widest variety of sounds ranging from jazz to world, from blues to funk, or tango through flamenco and everything in between!
